BIM Strategy Consulting Services for U.S. AEC Firms

A documented BIM roadmap, standards, and a BIM Execution Plan built around your firm, not a downloaded template, so every project starts from a plan instead of starting over.

Most firms don't lack BIM skills. They lack a documented strategy: a roadmap that says what LOD to model to, which standards apply, and who owns the BEP once the person who wrote it moves on. Excelize builds that roadmap once, for architecture, MEPF, and general contracting firms, so your team stops re-deciding it on every job.

What It Is

What is BIM Strategy Consulting?

BIM Strategy Consulting is the work of building a firm’s BIM roadmap: standards, phase-by-phase LOD targets, governance, and a repeatable BEP template every project draws from, instead of each team inventing its own approach. Where Capability Assessment measures where you stand today, Strategy Consulting builds the plan for where you go next. Excelize baselines that plan against ISO 19650 information management principles and current LOD standards, recognized industry frameworks, not an internal opinion.

Where BIM strategy actually breaks down

01

The BEP that doesn’t exist

A firm bidding on healthcare, data center, or large commercial work gets asked for a BEP before the RFP is even scored and doesn't have one to send.

02

The roadmap that got filed away

A roadmap gets written once, filed away, and every new office or project team ends up inventing its own version of the standard.

03

The claim with nothing behind it

A maturity claim with no way to back it up: a firm says it’s "BIM mature" in a proposal, but can’t point to a documented framework behind that claim.

That gap costs more than an awkward proposal answer. It's the difference between a firm that gets shortlisted and one that doesn't, on the exact projects worth winning.

What We Deliver

What our BIM strategy consulting service includes

BIM Roadmap

A phased plan for the next 12 to 24 months, tied to the project types your firm is actually bidding on.

LOD Targets By Phase

Mapped to AIA G202/E201 and the BIMForum LOD Specification, so “coordination-ready” means the same thing on every project.

BEP Template

Built to NBIMS-US, structured so your PMs can adapt it project to project instead of writing one from scratch.

Governance Structure

Who owns the standard, how often it’s reviewed, and what happens when your software stack or project mix changes.

CDE And Software-Stack Recommendation

Built around what you already run, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, or Revizto, not a forced migration.

BIM Maturity Baseline

Your current practice evaluated against ISO 19650 and LOD standards, so you know exactly where you’re starting from.

Our Process

Our BIM strategy consulting process

01

Baseline and standards audit

We interview your BIM leads, pull your last three project models, and evaluate your current practice against ISO 19650 and LOD standards.

02

Roadmap and BEP draft

We write the roadmap and BEP template in two passes: a first draft your leadership reviews, then a working version your PMs pilot.

03

Pilot

We run the new standard on one live project before it becomes firm-wide policy, so we catch what doesn't work while it's still cheap to fix.

04

Rollout

Once the pilot holds up, we roll the standard out to the rest of your offices and project types, staged, not all at once.

05

Handover and governance

We hand you the governance calendar and sit in on the first scheduled review, then it's yours to run.

Who This Is For

A roadmap built for how you actually work

Architecture firms get standards that protect fixed-fee margins across every project, not just the one they're currently staffed for. MEPF firms get LOD and coordination standards built to win complex, high-value work like data centers and healthcare. General contractors get one standard applied consistently across every office, so coordination quality doesn't depend on which PM is running the job.

Whichever you are, the engagement scopes around your firm's structure, not a fixed package size. Consultants work out of New Jersey and California, on U.S. hours, against U.S. codes and AHJ requirements.

Most roadmap and BEP template engagements run four to eight weeks, depending on how many offices or project types need to be standardized.
Typically, your BIM or VDC lead, one project manager who can pilot the new standard, and someone with the authority to sign off on governance, usually a principal or director.
We build around what you already run. The roadmap is built for your environment, not a forced migration to a platform we prefer.
We evaluate current practice against ISO 19650 information management principles and current LOD standards, both recognized industry frameworks, before building the roadmap.
Yes. Capability Assessment is the audit. Strategy Consulting is the roadmap built from what the audit finds.
Yes, that's a common starting point. We build the first version of your standard.
Most firms start with a fixed roadmap and BEP engagement, then move to ongoing governance support once the standard is live and needs upkeep as projects change.

Bring us your current BEP, or the absence of one

Either tells us something useful. A BEP shows us what's already working and what isn't. No BEP tells us you're starting fresh, which changes how we scope the engagement. Send what you have, and a capability read comes back in 2 to 3 days.
